The research on this page is not handed down from a marketing team. It is led by Dr. Mark Roberts, Happy Howl's Head of Nutrition and R&D, and every claim here is one he can source and defend. Mark earned his PhD in animal nutrition from Massey University in New Zealand, one of the most respected schools in the world for companion-animal nutrition and home to its own Canine Nutrition Unit. His doctoral research studied how dogs self-select their diets across protein, fat, and carbohydrate, and what those choices do to their health. It is the exact question this section is built on. His work has been published in peer-reviewed journals, and he has spent more than 20 years in canine nutrition. He is the reason we can show our work.
